Products made with Red-Tailed Boa constrictor snakes

The Red-Tailed Boa constrictor snakes are an invasive species, introduced to St. Croix by way of people importing them as pets, and then releasing them into the rainforest. They threaten our native bird and amphibian species, and have been known to eat human pets and livestock, fitting into their mouths animals as big as fawns. They climb up into trees and predate on bird nests, eating young hatchlings and eggs, as well as hunting adult endangered ground doves. The boas have no natural predator in our rainforests, so without human intervention their population goes unchecked. For more information visit https://invasives.vi.gov/animals/red-tailed-boa/

I find roadkill boas and traditionally bark tan their skins by hand, creating a unique snake skin leather that has a soft leather texture on the underside, and a shiny, glossy scaled finish on the top. I use boa ribcage bones to create jewelry as well.
